WIND MITIGATION INSPECTION
A wind mitigation is an inspection generated for the insurance industry. The purpose of the wind mitigation is to save homeowners money by lowering the cost of their homeowner’s insurance. The wind mitigation answers specific questions that allow insurance companies to determine if the type of roof construction will reduce the amount of damage the home may suffer in the event of a hurricane or strong windstorm. The wind mitigation report is concerned with 7 major aspects of the roof including: the year of the home, age of roof covering, roof deck attachment, roof to wall attachment, roof geometry, secondary water resistance, and opening protections.
The wind mitigation report will give the insurance company information regarding these 7 aspects of the roof and provides pictures as proof. Insurance companies use the report to determine what credits the homeowner will qualify for and how much money they will save on their insurance. Insurance agents that we work with recommend getting a wind mitigation in conjunction with almost every home inspection. If our inspector believes that the home will not qualify for any credits, and therefore not save you any money, Inspect Central Florida will not charge you for the report. A wind mitigation inspection can also be done as a stand-alone inspection for homeowners who are trying to lower their insurance costs.
If you have any questions regarding a wind mitigation inspection or any or the other services we offer, please contact our office. We will be happy to help in any way we can.
